New County Judge Sworn In

Gretchen Larson, a senior trail deputy district attorney with the Mesa County District Attorney's Office, is Mesa County's newest county court judge. Mesa County population is approximately 120,000 with people spread across 15 different cities including Grand Junction, Fruita and Palisade. Due to a 350% increase in the number of cases filed in Mesa County since 1972, legislators approved the appointment of an additional county judge in Mesa, County. She will join Judge Art Smith and Craig Henderson with more than 16,000 that come before the Mesa County Court each year with issues ranging from traffic violations, domestic violence and drugs.

Getchen Larson most recently worked as a senior trail deputy district attorney. She is experienced in a broad range of legal issues and is very familiar with felony prosecution. She as had previous experience with the Garfield County District Attorney's Office, Colorado Legal Services and a private firm. She received her bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University and her law degree from the University of Colorado.
